Housing, Travel and Services

Lucca is easily accessible with any type of means of transport.

By car, it can be easily reached from any highway, as it is located on the stretch of the A11 Firenze-Viareggio with two exits (Lucca east and Lucca west) that are in the immediate vicinity of the city centre.

By train, it is directly connected to all the main stations of regional and extra-regional lines; there are regular train connections from Florence (for those coming from the north, north-east and centre), Pisa (for those coming from the centre and south) and Viareggio (for those who use the coastline and come from the north-west).

It is also connected, both by bus and railway lines, to the two Tuscan airports of Pisa “Galileo Galilei” (ca. 30 km from Lucca) and Florence “Amerigo Vespucci” (ca. 70 km from Lucca).

For the Pisa airport, the bus line that runs the daily service connections with Lucca is the Vaibus, while for the railway service there is a direct connection between the terminal and the central station of Pisa, called PisaMover; from Pisa central station it will then be possible to take a direct train to Lucca.

For the Florence airport, the bus line that runs the daily direct connections with Lucca is the Vaibus, while for the train service you have to reach the central station of Florence Santa Maria Novella by tram, and then take a train to the station of Lucca.
