Tatiana Samouil

Belgo-russian violinist Tatiana Samouil, of Russo-Moldovan origin, is internationally acclaimed for her expressive depth, radiant sound, and artistic versatility. She leads a multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber musician and and professor, performing with leading orchestras and at major festivals across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Born in Saint Petersburg into a musical family—her father, conductor Alexander Samouil—she made her orchestral debut at the age of nine. She studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Maya Glezarova, before continuing her training at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with the legendary Igor Oistrakh, where she later settled.

A laureate of seven of the world’s most prestigious international competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth, Tchaikovsky, and Sibelius competitions, Samouil is also regularly invited to serve on international juries.
Her discography of over twenty albums for Sony Classical, Onyx, Indesens, and Cypres has received numerous awards, including Diapason d’Or, Choc de Classica, and Prix Caecilia. Recent projects include the complete Rachmaninov chamber works with Andrei Korobeinikov and Pavel Gomziakov, and Il Mondo Felice with soprano Anna Samuil and the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia.

In addition to her solo career, she served for seven years as concertmaster of the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, where her close collaboration with conductors and deep involvement in orchestral leadership naturally led her to expand her artistic vision toward conducting.
In 2024, she founded the New Chamber Orchestra (NewCO) in San Sebastián, where she serves as Music Director. She is currently pursuing conducting studies with Alexander Samouil and Robin Engelen, further developing her artistic voice.

This season the highlights include Carnegie Hall Debut, performance with Marta Argerich Beethoven sonatas in Berlin and new CD recordings with Anna Samuil and Orchestre de Chambre de Wallonie ( Cypres)

Tatiana Samouil is Professor of Violin at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and at Musikene.
