Praised by Jed Distler in Gramophone magazine as “a pianist with iron hands in velvet gloves,” Pianist, conductor, and composer, Ruben Micieli won Second Prize and the Special Prize for the Best Interpretation of Liszt’s Sonata in B minor at the 9th International F. Liszt Piano Competition Weimar–Bayreuth (2018), as well as more than 40 national and international competitions. In 2021, he received the Best Italian Prize at the 66th Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona.

He has performed in concert halls and theatres across Europe and Asia, including Teatro La Fenice (Venice), Warsaw Philharmonic, Salle Cortot (Paris), Weimarhalle, Steinway Hall (London), Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), Xiao Ke Theater (Beijing), Recital Hall (Hong Kong), Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, Ruinekerk (Bergen, Netherlands), Auditorium Paganini (Parma), Auditorium Víctor Villegas (Murcia), Teatro Massimo Bellini (Catania), Solitär Hall (Salzburg), among others.

He has performed with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Weimar, Orchestra Arturo Toscanini (Parma), Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia, Bacău Philharmonic, Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo Bellini (Catania), RomaTreOrchestra, and Master Orchestra.

He has appeared at major festivals including the Oeschberghof Classic Piano Festival, Concerts Grand Salon (Zurich), Virtuoso & Belcanto (Lucca), Milano Piano City, Hong Kong Summer Festival, Lerici Music Festival, Concierto de los Castillos en Águilas, and Misano Music Festival.

In 2022, he joined the roster of artists of the Keyboard Charitable Trust (London).

His recordings include releases for GRAND PIANO RECORDS (Naxos), KNS Classical, A2DV Generation (complete Chopin Études), and IMD Music. His album for GRAND PIANO (Naxos), Paraphrases de salon, was released in June 2025.

He has recently completed two tours in China with the projects Dancing on Chopin and Opera Fantasies.

Expanding his activity as a conductor, Ruben Micieli has led the Orchestra Senzaspine of Bologna, Bazzini Consort Ensemble, RomaTre Orchestra, and the Catania Philharmonic.

He participated in the 2025 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, reaching the Second Round of the final stages, placing him among the top 40 pianists worldwide.

In January 2026, he made his debut at the Berlin Philharmonie, performing Paderewski’s Piano Concerto Op. 17.

Ruben Micieli studied with Javorka Mišić and trained with Giovanni Cultrera, earning the pre-reform Piano Diploma at the age of 17, and the Second-Level Degree in Piano in 2019 with highest honors, distinction, and a special mention of honor, including a future archival recording as a document of excellence at the V. Bellini Conservatory of Catania. He studied in Portugal with Aquiles Delle Vigne at the Academia Internacional de Música Aquiles Delle Vigne, graduating in 2018 with highest honors. He continued his advanced studies at the Accademia del Ridotto with Aquiles Delle Vigne and Andrzej Jasiński.

He has further refined his piano studies with internationally renowned teachers including Roberto Prosseda, Michel Béroff, Piotr Paleczny, Boris Berman, Till Fellner, Jörg Demus, Joaquín Achúcarro, Andrzej Jasiński, Valery Piassetski, Sergio Perticaroli, Leslie Howard, Yehin Gil, Epifanio Comis, Violetta Egorova, and Carmelo Pappalardo, and studied composition with Alexander Tchaikovsky and Raffaele Lo Presti.

He studied conducting with Michele Marvulli and earned the Diploma in Orchestral Conducting at the Accademia di Imola “Incontri col Maestro” under Marco Boni. He continues to study piano with Roberto Prosseda at the Musicafelix Academy.
