Agata Sorotokin
Agata Sorotokin began her musical studies at the San Francisco Conservatory before completing a degree in comparative literature at Yale University, where she worked closely with the poet and translator Peter Cole. She later pursued advanced musical training at Stony Brook University, earning both a master’s degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts in performance, as well as a master’s degree in composition. During her time there, she was mentored by Gilbert Kalish, Christina Dahl, and Arthur Haas, whose guidance played a pivotal role in her artistic formation.
In 2023, Agata received the Holland Scholarship and the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund, which enabled her to continue her specialisation in early music at the Royal Conservatoire (Koninklijk Conservatorium) in The Hague. Under the tutelage of Richard Egarr, Fabio Bonizzoni, Patrick Ayrton, and Bart van Oort, she completed a master’s degree in historical keyboard instruments. Her work also included research on seventeenth- and eighteenth-century improvisation.
Agata has appeared at major early music festivals, including the Utrecht Oude Muziek Festival, York Early Music Festival, Urbino Musica Antica, Oslo Early, and the Musikfest Bremen. At the Royal Conservatoire she has served as continuo player in projects led by Ton Koopman and Michael Chance, and as répétiteur for the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century under Jakob Lehman.
The first prize winner of the 2025 EMV Emerging Artist Competition and the 2024 “À tre” Competition, She served as harpsichordist of the European Union Baroque Orchestra 2025 (EUBO) and the Jeune Orchestre Baroque Européen (JOBE). Recent engagements include performances under Enrico Onofri with the Münchener Kammerorchester and the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra.
