Luc-Marie Aguera began playing the violin in Rouen (France), where he met the well-known French professor Dominique Hoppenot, who was to play an influential role in his later musical life. Then he entered the Conservatoire Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Paris in G\u00e9rard Jarry\u2019s class, and was later awarded the violin and the chamber music first prizes. At the same time, he was appointed for two years as Concertmaster of the Orchestre des Prix du Conservatoire.<\/span><\/p>\n Passionate about the string quartet repertoire, he joined\u00a0 <\/span>the Ysa\u00ffe Quartet, for a thirty year-long intense musical adventure. The Quartet members received the invaluable advice and support from the Amadeus Quartet at the K\u00f6ln Musik Hochschule, and were also inspired by lessons with Hatto Beyerle and Walter Levine.<\/span><\/p>\n From the awarding of the first prize in the Evian International Competition in 1988, to its last concert the 24th of January 2014 at the Cit\u00e9 de la musique in Paris, the Ysa\u00ffe Quartet played on the world\u2019s major stages: the London\u2019s Wigmore Hall , the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus in Wien, the Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall in New York,\u00a0 <\/span>the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and also in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Madrid, Barcelona, Roma, Milano, Firenze, Melbourne, Sydney\u2026 The quartet has also played in several prestigious festivals: Salzburg, Lockenhaus, Aldeburgh, Kuhmo, Stavenger, Schleswig-Holstein and La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron.<\/span><\/p>\n With this ensemble, Luc-Marie Aguera recorded works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Franck, Debussy, Ravel, Faur\u00e9, Magnard, Schulhoff, Boucourechliev, for the labels Decca, Philips, Harmonia Mundi, Aeon, and Ysa\u00ffe Records.<\/span><\/p>\n He is grateful to perform with artists he had long admired: Jean-Claude Pennetier, Martin Lovett, Valentin Erben, Isabelle Faust, Janos Starker, Michel Portal, Hatto Beyerle, Yovan Markovitch, Nelson Freire, Gary Hoffman, Franz Helmerson, Nicholas Angelich, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Miklos Per\u00e9ny<\/span><\/p>\n He has been an enthusiastic pedagogue for more than twenty five years, and passing on his knowledge and skill is key to his life as a musician. He teaches the violin in Rouen, and holds a string quartet class at the Conservatoire R\u00e9gional de Paris.<\/span><\/p>\n He was invited to give master-classes by the Dutch String Quartet Academy in Amsterdam (NSKA), the Jerusalem Music Center, the Hanns Eisler Hochschule of Berlin, the Festival Quatuors \u00e0 Bordeaux, the Frenswegen Sommer Akademie (Germany), the Orlando Festival (Netherlands), the Aldeburgh Festival (England). He is a regular faculty member of the Acad\u00e9mie Musique \u00e0 Flaine (France).<\/span><\/p>\n Luc-Marie Aguera has been invited to serve as a jury member at the ARD String Quartet Competition (Munich), and at the Orlando Competition (Netherlands). His concerts have been broadcasted on many European and American Radio and TV channels, such as France Musique, Radio Classique, Mezzo (France), the Bayerische Rundfunk, the SWR, ARTE (Germany), the BBC, MediciTV, and WNYC (USA).<\/span><\/p>\n The French Ministry of Culture made him Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 1999.
