Elizabeth Rowe

Pianist / Coach

Elizabeth Rowe studied music at Birmingham University and piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music under Denis Matthews, Frank Wibaut and John Streets. After gaining a place at the National Opera Studio, Elizabeth free-lanced as a répétiteur with Scottish Opera and English Touring Opera before joining the Music Staff at English National Opera from 1997-2004.

Since leaving ENO, Elizabeth has worked as a free-lance vocal coach and répétiteur for numerous companies including: The Royal Opera, Oper Frankfurt, Canadian Opera Company, Glyndebourne, Opera North, Opera Holland Park, English Touring Opera, Birmingham Opera Company, and British Youth Opera.

She has also worked extensively with young singers and on education and outreach projects for ENO Baylis, The Royal Opera, Glyndebourne, English Touring Opera, Children’s Music Workshop, Live Music Now, Canadian Opera Company’s Young Artist Ensemble, British Youth Opera, National Opera Studio and the North Sea Vocal Academy in Denmark.

In 2009 Elizabeth was appointed Head of Music for Opera Holland Park, overseeing their busy summer season and acting as consultant in the creation of the company’s Young Artist Programme in 2013.  In 2015 she was invited to become pianist and Music Director for an annual festival of song and opera on the island of Sark.

A frequent recital accompanist, Elizabeth has most recently performed concerts with Gillian Keith and Tom Randle as well as leading masterclasses with Sir John Tomlinson and Dame Felicity Palmer.  She currently holds several positions at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in 2015 was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
